Tim Hennessy, a seasoned entrepreneur and business leader, has made a significant impact on the corporate world with his exceptional ability to start, scale, and sell businesses.

Tim’s journey as a business owner began in 1987 when he founded the Active Apparel Group Pty Ltd (and associated companies), a start-up textile company. Thanks to Tim’s visionary leadership and entrepreneurial prowess as both Managing Director and Chairman of the Board for the majority of his tenure, the company rapidly transformed into a multinational manufacturing and distribution group, boasting manufacturing facilities and offices across Australia, China, Hong Kong, and the USA, and a highly respected global reputation. 

Today, the Active Apparel Group employs over 2,300 individuals globally and commands an annual turnover exceeding US$100million, a testament to Tim’s remarkable ability to create, manage and transform high-performing businesses across multiple markets and economic conditions.

Tim masterminded a highly successful exit, initially separating the textile division into an independent business, followed by a lucrative trade sale. This strategic step allowed focus on the continued growth of Active Apparel Group’s manufacturing division, with Tim leading the business as both Chairman and MD until 2020 when he stepped down to focus on new business ventures.

Today, Tim is involved as a Director in a number of successful companies spanning Technology, Manufacturing, Construction, Litigation Funding and Pharmaceuticals. Tim also lends his expertise to several advisory boards. In these roles, he offers valuable insights and advice, helping to shape the strategic direction of these organisations. His vast experience and business acumen make him a sought-after advisor, and he continues to play a pivotal role in the success of these companies. 

Tim’s vast business acumen spans corporate governance, financial management and administration, human resources, sales, marketing, strategic planning, logistics, warehousing, and resource planning. His true passion, however, lies in fostering a strong corporate culture that drives accountability and cohesiveness within executive management and the wider organisation.
